Actuality demonstrates desktop hologram-like 3d display solution for oil and gas
In Society of Petroleum Engineers ATCE Booth #825, Actuality Systems, Inc.'s Interactive Hologram-Like PerspectaŽ Display Shows Drill Path Visualization in 3-D
DALLAS, Texas - October 5, 2005 - Actuality Systems, Inc. announced today the first public demonstration of a desktop Spatial 3D display solution - first developed for Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil company - to depict drill paths and seismic horizons using the PerspectaŽ Spatial 3D solution. The prototype software technology, known as GeoPerspecta, will be demonstrated in the Saudi Aramco booth #825 of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE), which will be held at the Dallas Convention Center from Sunday, October 9 to Wednesday October 12.
Perspecta is a Spatial 3-D visualization system, meaning that it uses advanced optics and software to project real three-dimensional imagery inside a transparent dome. Perspecta is designed to augment desktop 2D rendering and stereo displays. Unlike CAVE/HIVE and other stereoscopic environments, Perspecta does not require goggles to produce the 3-D effect. For the first time, petroleum engineers can see multiple simultaneous drill paths suspended before them to pinpoint and avoid costly collisions while maximizing reservoir exploitation.
Actuality's presence in the Saudi Aramco booth is emblematic of a visionary development effort for Spatial visualization tools to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of oil and gas exploration and production.
